Ram Trucks: Hard Work Reaps Rewards
April 23, 2015
Ram is the fastest growing truck brand in America* and delivers best-in-class numbers for the Ram 1500 and Ram Heavy Duty trucks, but it doesn’t plan to stop there.
The brand has been working hard listening to customers and investing substantially in its products. With the brand receiving a number of awards in recent months, the hard work seems to be paying off. Here is a quick recap.
Medium-duty ‘Truck of the Year’
Work Truck magazine announced that the Ram 4500/5500 Chassis Cab truck as its 2015 Medium-duty Truck of the Year. This marks the second time in five years that the Class 4 and 5 Ram Chassis Cab has earned the publication’s top honor.
“Fleet managers today are looking for medium-duty trucks that deliver and the Ram 4500/5500 meets that requirement hands down,” Sherb Brown, publisher of Work Truck magazine, said. “The truck is tough and functional, and it doesn’t hurt that it’s great to drive. Congratulations to Ram on this well-deserved award.”
The winner of the Medium-duty Truck of the Year award was selected by readers of Work Truck and Heavy Duty Trucking magazines. Those readers comprise more than 100,000 operators of medium-duty trucks.
Vehicles participating in the annual Four Wheeler Pickup Truck of the Year competition were subjected to a week of rigorous testing in five key areas: trail performance, empirical data, on-pavement performance, interior and exterior.
To qualify for the competition, a vehicle must have been entirely new or have substantial mechanical revisions from a previous model year. The 2015 Ram Power Wagon is based on the Ram 2500 Heavy Duty 4×4 Crew Cab, but features a number of off-road-specific engineering enhancements, which gave the truck a significant advantage over all production pickups.
“The 2015 Ram Power Wagon is simply everything you want a real pickup to be,” Christian Hazel, editor of Four Wheeler magazine, said. “Plenty of power and load-carrying capability for hauling and towing, well-appointed interior comfort and convenience features, great on-road ride and handling, and jaw-dropping capability in virtually any off-road terrain. The Ram Power Wagon didn’t just win Four Wheeler’s 2015 Pickup Truck of the Year, it blew the competition away.”
In the site’s ranking of vehicle choices, the Ram 1500 scored the highest among full-size pickups available to U.S. buyers, and this was the second year in a row Ram’s half-ton entry has won the award. Within its class, the Ram 1500 took top honors for its outstanding value and critical acclaim.
The rankings are based on an in-depth analysis by U.S. News editors of all published vehicle ratings, reviews and test-drives.
“In addition to being a fully capable full-size pickup truck, reviewers say the 1500 has the smoothest ride in the class and first-class cabin materials that make it feel like a luxury car,” Jamie Page Deaton, managing editor of U.S. News Best Cars report, said. “The Ram 1500 also has an available diesel engine with plenty of grunt for towing, as well as great fuel economy.”
